Mr.DiVincent
Hello my name is Guy DiVincent. I have been a history teacher at North Bergen High School for over 26 years. Over the past 26 years, I have taught the following subjects : World History, Humanities, United States History I, United States History II, United States History II Honors and Advanced Placement United States History. This year I am teaching both World History and United States History II.
I would like to welcome you all to my teacher web page. I hope that during this very trying time that you and your families are doing well. The purpose of this video is to give you some information on how my classes are conducted and what you can expect from myself and what your children will be learning on a daily basis.
Both World History and United States History II start with Chapter 17. The World History course begins with the Renaissance and will continue until the school year ends in June. Some of the major topics covered in World History will include but are not limited to the following: The Renaissance, The Reformation, The Age of Exploration, The Scientific Revolution, The Enlightenment, The French Revolution, The Industrial Revolution, World War I, and World War II. United States History II begins with the Progressive Era and will likewise continue until the end of the school year in June. Some of the major topics covered in United History II will include but are not limited to the following: The Progressive Era, Imperialism, World War I, Prohibition, The Great Depression, World War II. The Cold War, The Civil Right Movement, and the Vietnam War.
The students and I meet promptly when their class begins in Google Meet. The codes for the various Google classrooms are as follows and there are links to Google Meet in Google classroom:
Period 1 Google Classroom code United States History II wgrql3l
Period 8 Google Classroom code United States History II weefirf
Period 4 Google Classroom code World History j6tuqww
Period 6 Google Classroom code World History 4ltli3t
Period 9 Google Classroom code World History dmki57a
Students are required to log into Google classroom on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays unless there is no school scheduled that day. Wednesdays are asynchronous learning days and students are not required to attend. However, if a student requires extra help or needs me for any reason I am available during their scheduled time period for Wednesdays. All of the correspondence between myself and my students takes place on Google Classroom and or Google Meet. If a student has a question for me they are asked to email me and not write messages in Google classroom. The reason for this is that all student questions are located in one place. Students are expected to attend class on a regular basis and be prompt. They know that our Google Meet sessions are recorded and they must behave accordingly.
You may choose to follow your child’s progress on Realtime. By accessing the parent portal, you can view all of their grades. Usually their grades are posted the period after the assessments are completed. The grades also have a brief description and are dated.
If you feel the need to contact me the easiest way to do so would be email. My email address is [email protected]. The phone number for the history office in the high school is (201) 295-2831.
Please make sure that your contact information is updated so if I need to contact you I have your current information.
