HUDSON COUNTY INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC LEAGUE SEASON IN REVIEW, 2021
By Brian Deakyne | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
Coach of the Year: Rob Camacho, North Bergen
No coach got more out of his team than Rob Camacho did at North Bergen, collecting nine wins in 2021. That included a remarkable run to the semifinals in the Hudson County Tournament, and nearly reaching the final. North Bergen, the No. 7-seed in that tournament, knocked off No. 2-seed Union City in the quarterfinals and took No. 3-seed Harrison to penalties in the semifinals.
North Bergen struggled early in the season with a 1-3 start against the traditional powerhouses of Hudson County: Kearny and St. Peter’s Prep. But Camacho’s team stayed the course and proved to be one of the top teams in the county by season’s end.
Gustavo Quiuqui finished with 16 goals as one of Hudson County’s top goal scorers. Roberto Morales and Josthin Stuller played big contributing roles for North Bergen this season.
