NBHS students have partnered together to work on a project for an International competition called Junk Kouture

Over the last few months, Mrs. Sapoff, Mr. Defendini and a few NBHS students have partnered together to work on a project for an International competition called Junk Kouture. The focus of this competition, based out of Ireland, is to create sustainably sourced and recycled Fashion. Out of over 100 schools in the Tri-State area, North Bergen High School was only 1 of 3 New Jersey based schools selected for the 30 finalist to participate in a live show to be hosted on June 8th.

More importantly, they have been working closely with Hackensack University Medical Center to source the materials. Mrs. Sapoff has used their surgical BlueWrap materials in the past, so when Mr. Defendini was emailed the invitation to participate in JK, it felt like a logical choice to  approach her about merging our subject areas and create a cross curricular project.

On May 9th, they will be attending a presentation at Hackensack University Medical Center in observation if National Nurses Day, where we will be meeting the President of HMUC/ Interim president of the North East Division.

On June 8th, they will be competing alongside the aforementioned 30 schools. Should that be successful, the next stage is to compete against other countries such as Dublin, Milan and Paris.

Below is a few articles that have been published through Hackensack UMC. We thought we would share with you the positive words written about the North Bergen High School and the hard work the students have completed.
